  12. The is an announcement regarding the PC Games Archives, originally located
  13. on ftp.uml.edu and mirrored on several locations around the world.
  14.  
  15. As of last week, the PCGA is now a JOINT archive between ftp.uml.edu and
  16. ftp.uwp.edu. The "Official Distributions", such as Apogee, Epic, and
  17. Game_Bytes, will be maintained at ftp.uml.edu as always. All other sections
  18. are now maintained at ftp.uwp.edu by Nathan Pieper. Each site mirrors the
  19. other, so within about 24 hours both sites are identical with regards to new
  20. files.

  22. Uploads of new files should go to ftp.uwp.edu, NOT ftp.uml.edu.

  24. Mirrors can maintain mirroring at ftp.uml.edu, but you must pick up both
  25. /msdos/games and /msdos/games_uwp directories for the full set.

  40. The PCGA is an unfunded, unsanctioned service to provide a central
  41. repository for the PC Gaming community. All manner of "freely distributable"
  42. (i.e. public domain, freeware, shareware, unrestricted, etc., herein
  43. referred to as "freely distributable") games and accessories which run under
  44. MS-DOS or MS-Windows 3.X are accepted. It is also an official distribution
  45. site for games from Apogee, Epic MegaGames, MVP, and Id, as well as Game
  46. Bytes electronic magazine.

  48. All items stored in the archives are in either self-extracting format, or
  49. ZIP 2.0 format. All ZIP files require PKZIP 2.X or later or Info-ZIP's UNZIP
  50. 5.0p1 or later.

  52. All executable items are scanned with the latest versions of various virus
  53. scanners at the time they were placed in the archives.
